The Lounge is owned by Jordan and Akbar, successful entrepreneurs with a shared passion for Uzbek cuisine. Their restaurant was born out of their love for the food of their homeland. "Our friends always tease us that we opened this place just for ourselves because it's all the food we love to eat," said Jordan. And indeed, the menu is a lovingly crafted tribute to the authentic tastes of their home.
What sets One Lounge apart is its commitment to filling a gap in the late-night dining scene. Tired of being limited to fast food in the late hours after work, Jordan and Akbar decided to transform an old Turkish restaurant into a vibrant restaurant and hookah lounge. Out went the old, and in came the new—plush couches, a state-of-the-art kitchen, and a fresh coat of paint. Jordan's only request to the designer was to adorn the restaurant with beautiful purple flowers, reminiscent of his Uzbekistan roots. The delicate flowers cascade from the ceiling, inspired by a cherished restaurant from his homeland.
For Jordan, this venture is a labor of love, a testament to his dedication to great food and a desire to share his heritage. "I began missing my food from home and how my mom cooked," he explains. For Jordon, all of the menu items had to be perfect. He doesn't mind spending time to research and make sure the taste is 100% authentic.
One Lounge's menu is a fusion of items from various cultures—Ukraine, Russia, Turkey, Italy, Greece. They also draw inspiration from their favorite fine dining establishments in Orlando.
During the restaurant's inception, friends and family played a crucial role in connecting Jordan with talented chefs from all over the world. He had to be sure they could carry out his vision.
The undisputed star of the menu is the traditional Uzbek rice pilaf, and flavorful kebabs. And if you're in the mood for something extraordinary, don't miss the borscht, a dish that patrons rave about, claiming it to be the best they've ever had. Each dish is made with the freshest ingredients like the beets in their popular red beet hummus.
